Great Start
Arguably our strongest lineup started this match in the BATTLE OF THE WEST!!!!1!!!
All 5 Visa players started in what felt like forever. We knew this would be a tough game but many were quietly confident we could still get a result against a team that was clicking early with a tonne of international experience. Berisha was rested which seemed to make the challenge a bit easier. Kone went off injured early.
And once again, Captain Duke scores for WSW with his 4th goal in 5 games. The confidence boosted a little. Wilmering had the better of Risdon, our backline was strong and we were on our way to go back to the top of the table.
Or so we thought.

🔴Everything Else
Look, I can’t be bothered splitting this up into various headings. Everything after the goal is a 🔴 . It was simply rubbish. We can’t string 3 passes together. We continued to try these little flick passes to no-one or low percentage passes. Meier was playing as if he was a box to box midfielder. Baccus couldn’t make any of his passes stick. Lopar saved by VAR again because of MS Paint. The ref constantly had his whistle in his mouth blowing it for every single touch on a WU player who went down when we breathed on them. It was the most frustrating and infuriating game I’ve watched in a long time for the Wanderers. We lacked all cohesion. I have no idea what formation we were trying to play. Yeboah needs to stop trying to take on players, Meier needs to be the target man and Muller needs the ball more.

This match just highlighted how relatively poor we’ve actually been this season, but were very lucky with results. We ground out the points (which is fine, and I’m all for it, and it gave us our best ever start), but you can’t do it every week before quality simply beats you. They better use the bye round to sort out the formation and play the football they keep saying we are trying to play. The lack of Babbel post match presser is interesting too. Did he simply not show up?

And to top it all off, Appiah fracking Kubi scored the winner.

See you space cowboy…
