S05E22: Plus Won

If the week leading up to Sunday was to be any indication of the game, it would have been dull and boring, but with the sunshine brought a bright outcome to the end of the weekend as we finally, finally, won a home game at Spotless brushing aside the Nix.

Some ATB members have been MIA since our win, but Nick and Tats weren’t left alone as our very own very good plus one from over the bridge came to assist.

S05E17: Piss Fartin’ Around

That winning feeling returned to the lives of the Wanderers players and fans in the unlikely setting of New Plymouth, despite the best efforts of the referee and linesman to do their business on our clean sheets.

We’re only one game away from the final derby of the regular season and we’ve got one hurdle to overcome in the Central Coast Mariners – but they’ll be looking for their 3rd win on the trot so we’ll be finding ways to show that kebabs > fish and chips.

S05E12: Drawckland

Another round, another draw for the Wandrawers. Some good goals, some bad mistakes, and a whole heap of barbecued meat were on the menu for yet another frustrating (and yet delicious) weekend of football for us westies.

In other news, the worst kept secret in the A-League – the signing of super villain, Vedran Janjetovic – became confirmed and he fired a few parting shots. Reactions were mixed but time will tell us whether he flops or fires for his new club.

S04E28: Thus Is The Bist Trup…

The talk of the Wanderers might have been Santalab, who was hungry for his two goals, but Wellington’s night life is disappointingly sans-kebabs leaving certain ATB members with a hunger of their own.

We preview the games being played during a weekend where the Wanderers can’t lose, and talk more about the Wellington away trip because it was awesome.

S04E20: Flarijuana

The two joints that got smoked in Melbourne over the last week have been the talk of the media and although some thought ‘weed-on’t deserve this kind of shabby treatment’, others decided to shoot the a-league down in a blaze of glory.

The Wanderers were sloth-like against the Phoenix, getting salad and salt mixed up, along with not knowing where the goals were, and couldn’t play well, not even 4-20 minutes. Especially when passing to the Dutchy on the right hand side.

S04E08 FFS: Football Federation Straya

The win against Wellington was overshadowed by the verbal and written diarrhoea spouting from some of Straya’s finest oval ball supremacists, but contrary to expectation we do actually talk about football at some point too.

S03E16: $pring Water

Despite winning at the foot of the mountains, we’re still at the foot of the table, and although our expansive midfield kept us happy, the expensive water didn’t. We won our first game of the season and quite frankly – its about time. We head up to Newcastle this weekend, and hopefully head up the ladder as well.

In ‪#‎ATBFeedback‬, we discuss the missing and weakest links in the squad, as well as in the communications from the club, where important information is still being leaked to fans over social media, rather than by more formal communication.

Brought to you on time, and with an email notification, this is Around the Bloc.

S03E13: Catched

The Wanderers played once again in another country, and were unable to bring the points home. The rumours are flying around about players departing, but could it be the shake up we need? Or is it going to cause our chemistry rating too plummet further? We’ve got 2 games before the Asia Cup and then a well deserved break, so hopefully the team can bring us some New Year cheer.

We also hope that all of our listeners and contributors have had a great Christmas, and also have a happy new year – with love from Around the Bloc.

S03E12: The Airing of Grievances

It was lucky we were recording on Festivus, because there were a lot of grievances to be aired this week, mostly against FIFA and the FFA and the usual, but there was also a lot of good stuff too, in particular the fundraiser for Nato and the Berthaly Family which raised 20,000 bucks! That’s an impressive example of how the Wanderers family sticks together whether the team is doing well or not.

In other good news, the Y-League team had a good win that we were actually able to talk about for once, and it’s the end of December, which means heaps of food, hopefully heaps of holidays, and a rare A-League game that actually features the Wanderers. We here at Around the Bloc wish all our listeners a happy Christmas or if you don’t celebrate Christmas, we hope you have a good time anyway.

S03E06: The D

The trilogy has ended and we are Alan-less this week, as well as Ivan-less and Turner-less, not to mention still win-less in the A-league and Santalab-less, because he is shoulder-less. We can’t do much about missing podcasters or the need for surgery, but, like Seyi Adeleke, the Wanderers need to turn around and head in the right direction, and they can begin in Perth where they play the Glory this weekend.

One thing we are not missing this week is Speccy, who has returned from Riyadh to tell us a few tales of the road, and why he thinks Qatar should retain World Cup Hosting rights, and if you haven’t already turned this off to log onto twitter and abuse him for it, thanks for staying tuned – this is Around The Bloc
